About Me

"Opportunity's are missed by most because they are dressed in overalls and look like work"-Thomas Edison. This quote has always inspired me to keep working hard and make every opportunity count. Hello my name is George, I'm sixteen years old and a junior in High School. In my spare time I like to take apart anything electronic just to see how it works. Since I was about seven years I been taking old toys apart. I guess you say I'm a curious person, mostly because I enjoy learning how things work. Back when I still played with R/C cars, if I didn't like it anymore I put it to good use and took it apart. I would remove all the screws of the main body until I reached its circuitry. From there I would trace the wires to the small engines that it had and remove them. Then I would take a small battery pack and connect it to the motor to see what it would do. Keep in mind I was only seven taking apart an R/C car. Lets just say I could never put the car together because I broke too many pieces. Although now that I'm older I still do take apart things out of curiosity, for example a small cd/dvd player, a fan, or even a PS3. Off course I don't brake any of the parts now especially on my PS3.

On the other hand whenever I'm not taking apart something, you could find me playing video games or with my sketch book and a pencil. When I was in elementary school I used to print out pictures of my favorite manga character, Naruto. With tracing paper over it I would trace it and show my classmates what I did. It wasn't until the fifth grade that I actually learned how to draw free hand. My teacher asked us to draw a mythical creature. I chose to draw the minotaur which is half man half bull. This was my very first drawing anything free hand. For my age and very little experience I think it came out pretty well. The minotaur is displayed below with a small phoenix in the background.

Now when it comes to sports I'm not very athletic. I like several sports but I don't play them for the school. For example I like football but I don't play it. I'm not a very big tennis or basketball fan either so I stay away from that, but I do enjoy playing badminton. The two sports I do play are soccer and golf. When the weather is good sometimes I go down to the soccer field with my friends and have a small game among us. My older brother happens to work at Knickerbocker Country Club so it seemed pretty fitting that I learn to play golf. Unlike many students in High School, I like and enjoy playing golf. In my opinion I think many stay away from golf because it's not "cool". No one becomes "popular" in school by playing golf, and especially they don't get any recognition for it. Unfortunately many schools don't offer golf as a sport in the school, I think this is mainly due to the fact that it isn't a sport you could practice anywhere. For those High School students who do play golf, the school should at least start a golf club so they could get together.

Alright well the main reason why I'm doing this blog is because my teacher said so. Besides that he also thinks it will help us voice our opinions or show our talent. He believes by doing this it sets us apart form everyone else. Mr. G(my teacher) told us if you show the world your work and what you are capable of, someone may want to hire you. According to him the age of the paper resume is over, now its all about the web and showing people what you can do. Personally I do find this to be true, now anything you need can be found on the web, everyone has a blog, etc. So why not? I'll give blogging a shot. Thank you for reading this, if you enjoyed it keep up with my blogs, share or follow.
